If You Can't Find It... Create It....

Who said "If you can't find it...create it?" I don't know, and I don't feel like using my friend Google to find out if that's a real quote or not. Well it's real, cuz if no one else said it... I just did.

Hi out there in Ballroom land! I miss you! God, I miss dancing like I'd miss my right arm! But... onward I trudge into the new and exciting! I know what you're thinking.... Well if she's writing she must be dancing...she said she'd come back once she started dancing again! Well... yes I did, but no I'm not... yet.
Oh the stories I have to tell... some of which are over at my other blog This Single Serving Life (the big question is... can she keep two blogs going at once...)

Lets do what I do best here on this blog and lets talk dance!

Since we last visited, I have not actually danced more than once... which at first I was okay with, as of today not so much, I'll tell you why in a second. I started working with this awesome guy on a new event planning and promotion company he's putting together called The Muvmint and he suggested that we put together the most awesome charity gala Chicago has ever seen. (You'll hear about it in a few days...we have to get a few more things set up) and then I started wishing for independent wealth so I could go back to dancing.

Ah ha! But... if you can't find it, create it right? So.... what if this Gala, just happened to be everything I ever wanted in an evening out dancing? What if it just happened to also support a great national charity? What if it just happened that I now get to take my writing, social, and gift of the gab and use it to actually BE my living? If you can't find it create it.... it's what I do with my writing, and what I do with my social circles, why can't it be what I do for a living?

So, The Muvmint - Chicago's newest and freshest event planning and promotion company is setting out to gather all the other Ballroom/Latin Dancers out there... the people that do dance, the people that want to dance, heck the people that just want to come out and have a good time! Then lets mix in friends, family, local businesses, a live band, a four course dinner, silent auction, raffle, and a record breaking partner dance... Then let's donate all auction and raffle proceeds to charity, and a % of our profit too...cuz we're a company with a conscience. Have you ever heard of all that? I haven't either, which is why we're creating it! It's everything I ever wanted in an event, fun, exciting, tasty, and for a good cause... We create what you can't find. :-)

In the process of doing all of this... planning, promoting, writing, falling, eating plan researching, officially ending my relationship with the studio I used to dance at.....whew I'm a busy girl!

I crossed the threshold of a dance studio tonight. A brand new one! Ballroom Center in Libertyville IL owned by Donald Johnson (Go ahead...look him up... dare you!) and Irina Shukhat (not as well known, but she was the first ever professional Latin dancer to ever hold my attention when I began spectating) is the newest ballroom studio to hit the area that I'm aware of... man I do love my ballroom. I almost wanted to kiss the hardwood! (Why is it I can't be independently wealthy again? Oh, right...this is REAL life....gotta work for it!) I was just watching people practice and I was having a good time! I also got to watch some of a group class that Donald was teaching... he had some really great insight about movement. I should have taken notes! He talks fast, and uses a lot of words it seems but he gets results.

I'm also excited that I'm going to dance a little on Friday.... woo hoo! I hope I remember how! Friday is Ballroom Center's open house! I don't even know if I can find my functioning dance shoes! Ack! This kinda feels like the first day back at school...only the school is on another planet!

Considering that I'll be crossing the thresholds of many more studios in the coming days and weeks, I will at least be observing a lot of dancing! If I'm lucky I'll find the funds to join a group class or two and that will really be cool.... I probably won't be back to lessons anywhere for a while, I'm thinking late Spring, but I'm going to start blowing the dust off my skills more and more, and as I have new dancing revelations, events, and news I'll keep you posted!

Ahhhh.... it's good to be home.
(BTW... if you're in Chicago Save January 27th for the Gala ok?)
